1. CE marking - an introduction.

CE marking is required for the placement of certain types of products on to the EU market

  • This course gives a thorough introduction to the fundamental requirements of CE marking so that you will be confident you know what to do to CE mark your product / equipment.
  • Can be delivered on your site or at our premises

2. UL certification - an introduction.

UL certification is a sought-after third-party product certification mark for the USA market, but it can also be extended to cover Canada and in some cases the EU. We find many manufacturers and end-customers seek the UL mark for product safety but other aspects of compliance are catered for too including EMC and envirnonmental certification.

  • This course gives a comprehensive introduction to the US and Canadian product certification requirements and how the UL certification mark fits in.
  • The course goes on to explain various approvals options, requirements and example certification costs.
  • Through Product Approvals Ltd's extensive experience in obtaining many third-party UL approvals (and other US approvals) for our clients (collectively over 37 years experience across the team as of 2018), we share experience in how to avoid the many potential pitfalls in obtaining these approvals.

3. Designing Industrial Control Panels to meet CE / US / Canadian requirements - an introduction

Target audience: design and application engineers, technical directors and managers, quality and safety compliance staff.

  • The course provides a useful and practical introduction on how to get started in achieving compliance to the applicable regulations of the target market.
  • For CE marking, an introduction to the typical CE marking directives (including the latest Low Voltage and EMC directives that came into force in April 2016) and the use of harmonised standards.
  • Also covers how to compile a Technical File and the CE declaration of conformity.
  • The course gives an introduction to the widely used standard BS EN 60204-1 "'Safety of machinery - Electrical equipment of machines".
  • For the US and Canadian market entry part of the course, attendees will gain an understanding of the key regulatory markets for these countries, for control panels, including use of approved components, SCCR (short circuit current ratings), enclosure type ratings, circuit protection basics and more.


4. CE marking of machinery - an introduction

Target audience: design and application engineers, technical directors and managers, quality and safety compliance staff.

  • The course provides a useful and practical introduction on how to get started in achieving compliance to the EU Machinery Directive.
  • How the Machinery Directive relates to the Low Voltage and EMC CE marking directives.
  • Use of harmonised standards
  • Type A, B & C standards. What they mean and when you should use each type.
  • An introduction to the widely used standard BS EN 60204-1 "'Safety of machinery - Electrical equipment of machines".
  • When to use a 'declaration of incorporation'.
  • How to compile the Technical File and CE declaration of conformity, for machines.
